Philip Walton writes angry letter to Taoiseach over impersonations

And on it goes… Golfer Philip Walton asks; what’s so funny?

TAOISEACH BRIAN COWEN is not having the best week, it would seem.

First, Simon Coveney has a go at him on Twitter for sounding “drunk or hungover” during a Morning Ireland interview on Monday.

Then, the Irish and international media speculate about the possibility and he is forced to apologise to the nation.

After that Irish bond yields rise – again – which some critics blame on international investors becoming jittery on the back of the rumour.

Now, following revelations that Cowen was up until 3am on Monday chatting, singing, and making people laugh with his impersonations, it seems that he has drawn the wrath of Ryder cup-winning golfer Philip Walton.

Reuters reports that Walton has written to Cowen, asking why he was being mimicked during the party.

Walton said that, after seeing reports in newspapers and on television, he and his wife felt they had to confront the Taoiseach on the issue.

Walton said in a statement:

From what I have heard and read so far the stories are of concern to myself, my wife and also my children as they have seen reports on You Tube. As a result, we felt the best thing at this point was to write to An Taoiseach ourselves to get more details and the exact context of the various stories.

Walton has reportedly expressed “anger” over the reports.
